Karma Martam Retreat is set amidst a beautiful valley of terraced rice fields in the village of Martam in East Sikkim, 29 kms from Sikkim’s capital Gangtok. Surrounded by the virgin forests of the Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary and facing the majestic Nathula range, the resort offers spectacular views of the vast wilderness.
Built in a contemporary, minimalistic style, the resort also boasts of its own private organic kitchen garden and focuses on sustainability in all aspects of the operation. As part of our commitment to saving the environment, no-single use plastics are available on site and rooms don’t have air conditioning facilities as even in the summer, maximum day time temperatures do not exceed 27°C.
Activities at the resort include treks and village walks or even a day at the farm planting rice paddies or plucking Kiwis!

The Restaurant at Karma Martam Retreat serves Pan Indian and International cuisine with a special focus on local Sikkimesse Nepali, Tibetan and Bhutanese Cuisine – a true representation of Sikkim.
Inspired by the ‘Farm to Table’ philosophy, the cuisine is driven by Sikkim’s reputation as a organic state. Executive Chef Karma Kengmu loves to include local seasonal ingredients including foraged forest produce in his culinary creations!

All foreign tourists must apply for a visa before travelling to India. UK citizens spending up to 30 days in the country can apply for a double entry e-Tourist Visa – make sure you apply at least 4 days before your departure date.
